Unlicensed banquet halls continue to do brisk business in Gurgaon
31 Oct, 2013According to a reply provided by the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, only six banquets halls have the mandatory licence from MCG. The reply adds that 25 banquet halls had been served notices this year, seeking responses on why licences were not obtained. Without the license, the activity of these banquet halls become illegal and become liable for action under Haryana Municipal Corporation Act 1994.
There are many banquet halls are located on Sohna Road, Pataudi Road, Badshahpur, Daulatabad, Sheetla Mata Mandir Road and Rajendra Park in business for years.
Not only in Gurgaon, but in all major cities around the country the banquet halls seem to be poorly regulated even though the business in wedding season remains brisk. However, many have poor parking facilities and remain a source of sound pollution.
