RTI reveals housing scheme against the resolution passed by the board
21 Mar, 2013The farmers of Palakhedi village in Indore have alleged that the Madhya Pradesh Housing Board (MPHB) officials have illegally shifted the proposed residential scheme to their village only to benefit the land mafia.
The allegations have come in the light of the reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, according to which MPHB had passed a resolution in November 2010 for constructing a Smart Township Scheme over 1,092 acres land beside four-lane Agra- Bombay Road in between Rau and Mhow. The project was meant for three villages-- Umaria, Pipliya Malhar and Kevti, while later on the housing board deviated from the original project area and started the project in village Palakhedi.
The farmers of the village are opposing the land acquisition in the name of this housing scheme. They stated that they had already given their land for three other projects of IDA and if they again have to part with their land, that too for an illegal project, they would lose their major source of subsistence.
