RTI reply shows very low rate of complaints disposal during Janata Darshan
13 Sep, 2013
An application was filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to get the details of Janata Darshans held by the current government of Uttar Pradesh and the number of complaints addressed by them.
The reply to the application shows that seven Janata Darshans were held between May 15, 2012 and May 14, 2013 for which a total of 22,872 applications were received by the Chief Minister. As per the RTI reply, sent by the Secretary to the Chief Minister, out of these, only 6,069 complaints were disposed of during the Janata Darshans. This implies that the redressal rate of the complaints during Janata Darshans is extremely low to the tune of 26 per cent.
The janata darshan has been a permanent fixture with successive chief ministers in Uttar Pradesh which was discontinued during the previous government. Under the programme, the citizens can directly approach the chief minister with their problems.
