RTI activist family demand CBI enquiry into the suicide by Rajendra Kumar
22 Oct, 2013In the follow up action to the suicide of the RTI activist Rajendra Kumar, police teams have been sent to Haryana and Chhatisgarh to trace the accused named in the suicide note. In the 23 -page suicide note, Rajendra had blamed 33 persons for torturing him since year 2006 after he gathered information that they had secured government jobs on the basis of fake caste certificates. Some of them were pressurising him to withdraw the case filed by Rajendra against them.
Meanwhile the Police recorded the statements of family members who also met the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and requested for CBI investigation. Rajendra's wife, Rajini, 40, daughters Akansha, 18, Abhilasha, 16, and son Rakshit, 12, along with other relatives met CM at his residence carrying an urn containing the ashes of Rajendra.
The family claimed that Rajendra made repeated complaints at every level regarding the torture but was not given a hearing. This led the whistle blower to take the extreme step. On October 15, the suicide by Rajendra Kumar outside chief secretary's office at the state secretariat by consuming celphos pills had shocked everyone.
