One day National Workshop on Best Practices on RTI Act held
8 Sep, 2013The Centre for Right to Information at Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), organised a one day National Workshop on Best Practices on RTI Act, 2005 on September 7, 2013. YASHADA is a Government of Maharashtra Organisation at Pune and the workshop was sponsored by Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India.
Mr. Ratnakakar Gaikwad, Chief Information Commissioner, Maharashtra inaugurated the workshop Mr. Manoj Joshi, Joint Secretary, DoPT, was the Chief Guest. Pralhad Kachare, Director, Center for RTI, Yashada did the introduction while Dr. Sanjay Chahande, Director General, Yashada welcomed the participants. The opening remarks were given by Mr. Manoj Joshi, Jt. Secretary, DoPT who remained in the workshop till the very end listening to all the presentations.
This one Day National Level workshop on Best practices on Right to Information saw presentations from various public authorities and NGO’s. The Best Practice being implemented by them or any Public Authority, Appropriate Government, Competent Authority, Information Commission, Administrative Training Institute, RTI Civil Society Organizations and Individual RTI Practitioner were discussed thoroughly. Select Best Practices shall be considered for publication in the Best Practices Documentation to be published by DoPT, Govt. of India.
The presentations were done in the following format
1) Name of the Public Authority, whose practice is being considered in the write up.
2) Need felt/problem faced by the Public Authority leading to adoption of such practice.
3) Details of the said practice, including its scope, financial implications, and deployment of resources such as manpower, infrastructure, etc.
4) Lessons learnt by the Public Authority during implementation of the said practice.
5) Positive outcome of such practice in the implementation of the RTI Act.
6) Scope of its replication in other Public Authorities.
