Maharshtra launches the facility of online filing of RTI applications and appeals
2 Jan, 2015Maharashtra state government has launched a web portal for Right to Information (RTI) applications (www.rtionline.maharashtra.gov.in.) which can be used by citizens to file online applications and first appeals under the Right to Information (RTI) Act and check its status. The portal is available in English and Marathi and can be used only for filing RTI applications relating to the Mantralaya Departments and not field offices. Out of the 37 departments in Mantralay, 31 are shown on the site.
The rtionline.maharashtra.gov.in has started functioning w.e.f January 1, 2015 on a trial basis with the government seeking suggestions from the public for any further improvement. Currently, the requisite fees for the application of the RTI application can be paid via internet banking or ATM cum debit card and credit card. The portal generates a unique registration number on submission of an application which is sent to the applicant via SMS and email for future reference.
The reasons for the non-availability of the Hindi version is not known and is likely to be raised by applicants.
