Maharashtra government issues notice to Saibaba temple trust
19 Mar, 2013An application was filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to know details about the money spent on different projects by Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, the managing body of Saibaba temple in Shirdi.
The reply to the application has revealed that the state government of Maharashtra has issued a show cause notice to the management trust of Saibaba temple for spending large amount of money on a number of projects without taking government’s permission. The notice has been served by the Law and Judiciary Department of state government. The state government appoints the board of trustees of Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust which manages the temple and provides basic amenities like roads in Shirdi town.
The RTI applicant, Sandeep Kulkarni, has claimed that the present board of trustees has spent crores of rupees on different projects on earlier occasions too without government’s approval. He alleged that the trust implemented the 6th Pay Commission’s recommendations without government’s permission and also distributed bonus to its employees though it is not permitted.
