First Western India Convention on Right to Information to be held on June 7 and 8

As per a press release by Bhaskar Prabhu, Convenor, Western India Right to Information convention 2014, the first “Western India Convention on Right to Information” shall be held on 7th and 8th June 2014”. The Mahiti Adhikar Manch and the Department of Civics and Politics, University of Mumbai is organising a Two-Day Convention on Right to Information in Sir Pherozeshah Mehta Bhavan, University of Mumbai, Vidyanagari, Kalina, Santacruz (E) Mumbai 98. The convention is scheduled on 7-8th June, 2014 between 9.30am to 06.00pm.
Stalwarts in the field will be talking and interacting with people from all across Western India in particular but also with participants who are participating from Kashmir, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, M.P, Orissa, Andra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal.
The convention will be graced by Dr.Aruna Roy, the Pioneer of the Movement. Mr.RatnakarGaikwad (SCIC), Kumar Ketkar, Nikhil Waghle, Shailesh Gandhi (former CIC), Adv. Uday Warunjikar, Satyanand Mishra (former CCIC), Vijay Kuvalekar(former SCIC) Nikhil Dey (MKSS,Rajastan), Shekhar Singh (RAAG,Delhi), and many others from various states will be part of the discussion.
Among the Speakers who addressed the Press Conference on June 3 to announce the details of the programme were:

Mr. Julio Ribeiro - Chairman- Public Concern for Governance Trust
Dr. Jose George - Prof. & Head of Dept of Civics and Politics - University of Mumbai.
In this initiative, Bombay Chartered Accountants Society (BCAS), Common Wealth Human Right Initiative (CHRI, Delhi), National Campaign for People’s Right to Information (NCPRI), Public Concern for Governance Trust (PCGT) Tarun Mitra Mandal (TMM) and various other organisations, and NGOs are participating.
