DoPT plans to extend e-filing of RTI applications
26 Apr, 2013The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), has planned to extend the scope of the site www.rtionline.gov.in to assist the citizen in e-filing of RTI applications and payment of fees to all central government departments. This site is functional but only for filing the RTI applications with the DoPT. Now it is intended that within a month, the citizens can file applications to all the Ministries or Departments of Government of India through this site. The use of the site is likely to be limited to the head offices while it would not be useful for filing an application to the field offices, attached or subordinate offices. The site has been developed by NIC. The prescribed fees can be paid through Internet banking of State Bank of India and its associate banks as well as by credit or debit cards of Visa or Master. The DoPT plans to train officials to facilitate easy processing of the RTI applications filed by the citizens. The word limit for filing application through the site is 500 words and can be uploaded at the column prescribed on the website. However, the application which contains more than 500 words can be uploaded as an attachment.
