Comment: In Maharashtra, HC judges enjoy 30 days’ vacation in summer, 15 days in winter, 15 days during Diwali & besides all Sundays, Saturdays and 15 days casual leave in a year. When tremendous litigation is pending is there need of enjoying all these unproductive holidays. British started summer vacation because they were not accustomed to Indian hot temperature but our judges being Indian are accustomed to Indian environment so why they need vacation in summer? Moreover their houses, court halls, chambers and vehicles are air conditioned so where is the feeling of heat? All other departments do not have these many holidays though they are doing intellectual work so why exception for the judges? The secretaries, doctors, engineers, scientists are also from intellectual class so why favouritism to only judges when poors are waiting for justice and when a criminal case requires 20 years to finish. Surprisingly that meter of the pay and allowances during such long vacation runs on. The principle is that NO work No pay but here there is unique and understandable principle
NO work Yes pay . All this need to be stopped by the dignitaries themselves realising their own responsibility towards the crying society and propriety to enjoy this type of out dated fascility.Name: PB Patil
