Murder case of RTI activist Ganesh Chandra Panda near Berhampur in Odisha solved

In respect of the murder of the RTI activist Ganesh Chandra Panda (52) near Berhampur (Odisha) on December 29, 2014, the police have arrested six persons. While Panda was taking his morning walk, they surrounded him at NH16 near Randha and killed himwith sharp weapons.
As per the information provided by Sashibhusan Satpathy, the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Berhampur, all the arrested persons were young (between 20 to 23 years of age) and were residents of Randha, Baghalati, Kanisi, Berhampur and Chatrapur. The police are in the lookout for Prakash Raula, the main conspirator, who is still absconding. Prakash was a contractor from Randha village of Rangeilunda block who undertook various government projects in the block.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the RTI applications filed by Panda regarding irregularities in developmental works in the area had irked Prakash. As a result of the RTI applications, the sanction of money in respect of for some projects undertaken by Prakash had been held up which led to a sequence of events leading to murder.
