Tamil Nadu SIC plans for a system for tracking of second appeals
10 Sep, 2014
The Tamil Nadu (TN) State Information Commission (SIC) receives over 55,000 appeals annually and is said to be facing a severe shortage of manpower and funds. A system where appellants who can track their appeals filed with the TN SIC is likely to be set up soon. The TN SIC has conducted discussions with Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Elcot), National Informatics Centre (NIC) and mobile service providers like BSNL to develop the software and integrate the messaging service for quick rolling out of the system.
The system is planned in a manner that those appellants who provide their mobile number while filing an appeal with the TN SIC would receive an SMS mentioning the case number and the date of hearing. Currently, the appellant is informed by post.
Initially the first message would be sent to appellants on a trial basis informing of the case number using which the petitioner would be able to track the application by the case number on www.tnsic.gov.in The plan involves sending three messages to the appellant - first at the time when the case number is generated, the second when it is posted for hearing and the third when it is disposed off.
