RTI query regarding Sachin Tendulkar who has been appearing for television ads

An application has been filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act to the President’s Secretariat seeking information as to whether a sitting MP is well within his rights to endorse a product or service on television.
The application has been aimed at the batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar who has been appearing on the national television endorsing a number of products / services. Pranesh, the RTI applicant has raised the question “Can a member of the RS do advertising, canvassing work in the electronic media and or in the print media for a private company, products and or services?”
The President’s secretariat has transferred the RTI application to the Lok Sabha Secretariat and the Rajya Sabha Secretariat in accordance with the provisions of Section 6(3) of the RTI act, 2005, with the request to provide information to the applicant under intimation to it.
The Code of Conduct of the Member of Parliament and their privileges has been a matter of intense debate.
