RTI convention to be held in Mumbai on June 7 and 8, 2014 at Mumbai
4 May, 2014Committed activists together with the public spirited community have contributed to putting Maharashtra State at the fore-front of the RTI Movement and the State also receives the maximum RTI applications in the country. Some of these activists have been hosting conventions in Maharashtra to promote the Movement towards Transparency prior to the enactment of Maharashtra Right to Information Act 2002 and continued their participation in various conventions motivating many groups to join together in the Movement, which ultimately brought us the Central Right to Information Act 2005.
Bhaskar Prabhu, Convenor for the Western India RTI Convention 2014, informed that it is time to have a RTI Convention in Mumbai for the benefit of Maharashtra and neighbouring states too. The initiative to organise the Convention has been taken in collaboration with Department of Civics & Politics, University of Mumbai by networking with various other organisations and NGOs who shall also be participating. The Mumbai Chartered Accountant’s Society shall be contributing nearly 50 % of the funds needed for the convention. The registration for the convention is compulsory with a fee of Rs 200/- for each participant. The last date for registration is May 10, 2014.
