Over Rs. 4 lakh dues pending against Ajmer Dargah guest house
28 Mar, 2012In response to a RTI application seeking details of dues and names of debtors in respect of the Khawaja Gharib Nawaz guest house in Ajmer, it has come to light that a total of Rs. 4,09,079 is pending for recovery from guests for the period up to November, 2011. It has been reported that the former Nazim, Abdul Mazid, owes Rs. 14,400, former vice-chairman of the dargah committee, Mansoor Ali alias Lalli owes Rs. 90,000 and member of the dargah committee, Peerzada Shibli Qasim owes Rs. 49,750. The president of committee, Sohail Khan, has an outstanding amount of Rs 7,035 and former dargah committee member Tariq Anwar owes Rs. 3,105.
The guest house at Ajmer is run by the Dargah Committee comprising nine members and a CEO (Nazim). The CEO is appointed by the Union ministry of Minority Affairs under the Dargah Khawaja Sahab Act -1955 to look after the affairs of the 12th century shrine of Khawaja Moinuddin Chisthi.
