Now ‘Lok Darbar’ in Gujarat also

After Maharashtra, Gujarat Information Commission is planning to hold special public hearing for pending appeals in all the districts of the state to reduce them instantly. State Chief Information Commissioner said that has only three information commissioners which is less than other states having smaller population have. The staff is also working on contract basis with a vacancy of 10 against a sanctioned post of 44. The Gujrat Information Commission has so far received 22,082 appeals while 13,078 have been disposed off. Through ‘Lok Darbar’,the Commission wants to reduce the pendency by calling the RTI applicants and related PIO at the time of hearing to resolve the matter on the same day.
