Kerala State Information Commission to re-consider delegation of powers
15 Mar, 2012
The Kerala State Information Commission agreed to consider some of the demands of the organisations that staged a dharna before the Kerala SIC. The Chief Information Commissioner Siby Mathews said the SIC would consider their representation against delegation of its powers regarding disposal of petitions to officials.
It has been claimed that the State Commissioners were not even disposing two cases a day though the Central Information Commission had set a norm that each of its commissioners should dispose about 3,200 cases a year. With appeals pending for over two years, there have been calls that the Commission should hold adalats to clear the backlog of 4,740 complaints and appeal petitions. A training of the Commissioners and staff in handling the cases for proper handling of cases is needed.
