J & K State Information Commission orders for implementing section 4 in the state
23 Jul, 2012Under the Section 4 of the J & K State Right to Information Act 2009, all public authorities have an obligation to make voluntary disclosure of their activities, which ought to have been completed within 120 days from the commencement of the Act. All the details about the organisation, its functions and duties and the powers and duties of its employees should have been put in the public domain. Now, the Jammu and Kashmir State Information Commission (SIC) has directed all public authorities of the state to make voluntary disclosure of their activities on their websites.
The SIC also directed the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to disclose information about the categories of documents held by it or under its control. The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has a priceless collection of reference books including manuscripts acquired, purchased, owned and gifted to it. Their details including names of authors and titles of the books would be uploaded on the website for the information to the general public.
