Issue of alleged misuse of RTI Act raised in Goa assembly

The Chief Minister of Goa Mr. Manohar Parrikar told the Goa State legislative assembly that the government may consider uploading all official information on the internet to make it available to citizens.

Some members of the state assembly had raised the issue of the alleged ‘Misuse of RTI Act’ by certain quarters while the CM was replying to the discussion on demands for grants to information and publicity and other departments. A call was made for ‘checks and balances’ by the Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte alleging misuse of the RTI Act. While accepting the misuse, Mr. Manohar Parrikar said that one cannot blame the Act for it. The Act is very good and if not for it corruption would have gone up by now.

He claimed that the government doesn't want to hide anything and can even consider putting all the official information on a website.
