Information about telephone complaint - CIC: If any complaints are regarding the appellant’s own telephone number, the appellant ought to have information as he would have filed the complaint; No further action lies in the matter

The appellant has sought the following information in respect of Phone No. 01762-296756 (broadband connection):
1. How many complaints have been filed for the said phone number during the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 with respect to internet connectivity fault/ no internet connection/ faulty internet?
2. How many internet faults were due to connectivity issues at back-end (Patiala or Ghaziabad)?
Grounds for filing Second Appeal:
The CPIO did not provide the desired information.
Submissions made by Appellant and Respondent during Hearing:
The appellant was not present at the VC venue despite due service of notice on 04.03.2023 vide speed post acknowledgment no. ED911540978IN.
The CPIO Patiala vide written submissions dated 07.03.2023 submitted that they never received the RTI application.
The CPIO Chandigarh submitted that a suitable point-wise information was provided on 14.03.2023 as per the availability of records. He also submitted that the RTI application was received only with the CIC notice.
Observations:
The Commission observed that if any complaints are regarding the appellant’s own telephone number, the appellant ought to have information on point no. 1 as he would have filed the complaint. As far as point no. 2 is concerned, the CPIO Chandigarh was asked whether information sought is available in documented form, to which he submitted that requisite information on both the points were sent on 14.03.2023.
Decision:
In view of the above observations, the Commission finds the CPIO’s action justified and no further action lies.
The appeal is disposed of accordingly.
