The reply to the application indicates that several job cards, meant for the persons below poverty line (BPL), have been issued to well to do people including government employees, businessmen and Sarpanchs. Some local persons have been quoted by the media saying that job cards have been issued in the name of many people who haven’t even applied for the scheme. The local residents have also alleged that many people have used their influences to get the job cards and even multiple job cards have been issued in the name of a single person.
Activists also allege that despite several complaints, no action has been taken against the erring officials and crores of rupees meant for the poor continue to be siphoned off.
