Illegal Gulabi Bagh residents will be removed within 6 months
20 May, 2012The Delhi government has assured the Delhi High Court that it would get nearly 300 government quarters in Gulabi Bagh which are under illegal occupation by former employees vacated within six months. A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri was hearing a PIL filed by Dinesh Sharma. The bench noted that 40 quarters have been sublet by allottees and 13 persons have been allotted two quarters each. Terming it as a very serious violation, the Court sought an explanation from PWD.
The HC gave Mr. Sharma the liberty to revive his petition if the government failed to do so in the fixed time frame. The petitioner had used the data obtained through RTI applications to prove that nearly 300 government quarters ranging from Type I to Type IV in North Delhi’s Gulabi Bagh were under illegal occupation of the former employees out of 2,100 government quarters.
