Guarantee of Citizens’ Services Act, termed as ‘Sakaala’ to be implemented in Odisa
29 Jun, 2012The Odisha government is set to implement the Guarantee of Citizens’ Services Act, termed as Sakaala in the State. The states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have already in place a Act which ensures guarantee of services to the citizen.
The Odisha government has sent its chief secretary B K Patnaik to Bangalore where he held a meeting with his counterpart S V Ranganth, also interacted with the heads of the departments concerned to study the implementation process.
The draft bill has already been approved and is likely to usher in accountability in services and provide a minimum assured level of services to the citizen. Alongwith the RTI Act, it would empower the citizen and help in their participation in the activities of the nation.
