Disclosure of incoming call details under RTI
10 Apr, 2012Background
The appellant alleged that he was receiving unwanted calls on his telephone and wanted the details of incoming calls on his telephone number for a certain period. The Public information Officer (PIO) refused the information saying that the same was not maintained by the BSNL.
View of CIC
The respondent submitted that if the appellant wanted the details from the present day onwards, the same can be provided by the department. The Central Information Commission (CIC) upheld the decision of the PIO and suggested the appellant that if he wishes to seek details of incoming calls for a short period from the present day onwards, say one or two months, he may request so.
