Delhi High Court reserves verdict on making ACRs public
10 Feb, 2012A bench of acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw of the Delhi High Court reserved its verdict on a plea seeking to disclose the Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APAR, earlier also called ACR) of a public servant under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Earlier, a single judge had ruled that the annual performance appraisal reports (APARs) of a public servant were "personal information" under the RTI and hence, exempted from disclosure unless there was a "larger public interest" which warranted disclosure. It was claimed before the bench that the information pertaining to performance of the public duty of a public servant cannot to be exempted from disclosure under the RTI Act.
