CBI seeks transfer of RTI petitions to Apex court
15 Feb, 2012
The CBI requested High Court to transfer the petitions challenging the exclusion of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Right to Information Act to the Supreme Court to be heard along with other petitions raising similar demands. A bench comprising of the acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice PR Ramachandra Menon, were informed by the CBI's counsel that three more petitions of the similar nature were pending before the Apex Court. Mr. Sukumar N Oommen (IAS Retd.) opposed the move, stating that he was ready to argue and his arguments should be recorded by the court before allowing the petition to be transferred.
