Are political recommendations guiding the transfer of police personnel?
18 Feb, 2014The reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that the Madhya Pradesh government has been allegedly transferring senior police officials on the basis of political recommendations.
The documents provided in the reply to the application shows that many recommendations for transfer of police officials were made by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and were forwarded to the Home department for further action. A note sheet, obtained by RTI activist Ajay Dubey shows that the MP from Satna had requested the chief minister in a meeting to transfer the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) from Special Branch, Shahdol. Following the meeting, a file noting was made by the CMO seeking the DSP’s transfer to either the headquarters in Bhopal or the traffic department in Satna and was sent to the home department for necessary action.
Other such note sheets of recommendation from the CMO include those related to the transfer of DSP Ranvijay Singh Bhadoria, SP Onkar Singh Kalesh, DSP BS Raghuwanshi, DSP MP Sharma and Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Sitaram Saryam. However, the copies of the final transfer orders of these police personnel were not provided by the government in the reply.
