Women Commission crippled by shortage of manpower
16 Aug, 2012Reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act by Human Empowerment League Punjab (HELP) has revealed that the Punjab State Women Commission is facing a severe shortage of manpower and in spite of the vacant seats of the Chairperson and four members of the Commission, there is no move on the part of the government to fill the vacancies.
The overall staff shortage in the Commission is adversely affecting the working of the Commission making it ineffective. Presently, the Punjab State Women Commission is working with a staff which is merely one-sixth of its sanctioned strength. The functions of the Commission, which receives over 100 complaints every month, has been nearly stalled.
