RTI application seeking information related to the Internal Sewerage System

The appellant sought information related to the completion and working of the internal sewerage system in a village including the public notice issued in this connection. He also wanted to know the outstanding amount against a particular connection. The Public Information Officer (PIO) did not reply to the application. The First Appellate Authority (FAA) directed the PIO to provide the information to the appellant. He also informed the appellant that the website of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has information on water charge on the Home page.
Proceedings
During the hearing, the respondent submitted that a Public Notice was indeed issued in respect of completion of Internal Sewerage System. They also produced a copy of the Notice and submitted that it had been put up on the concerned web site and published in various newspapers as well. The respondent further stated that the appellant has sought the documents submitted by another person in the process of getting the water connection and despite putting in their best efforts they could not locate any such documents.

The Central Information Commission (CIC) rejected the appeal observing that the available information has already been provided to the appellant.
