Raising vague queries through RTI application
11 Feb, 2012Background
The appellant’s brother was an army personnel arrested under an espionage case. He sought copies of certain records maintained by the Centre which were supplied to him.
View of the CIC
On going through the RTI application, the Central Information Commission found that the appellant has not sought any specific additional information. Perusal of the appeal memo indicated that the appellant wishes to know as to what all happened to his brother while he was in the Army service. Holding it as a vague query which does not make any sense, the Commission dismissed the appeal.
Comments
While filing an RTI application, one should be clear in his mind regarding what he wishes to obtain. The desired information should be specifically and categorically penned down rather than beating around the bush.
