Police complaint and RTI application can now be filed online in Haryana
3 Jan, 2015As an initiative under the central government's Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS), the Chief Minister of Haryana M L Khattar has launched 'Har Samay' — the citizen portal of Haryana Police, through which one can now file a police complaint online. An individual needs to log into www.haryanapoliceonline.gov.in and register to lodge a complaint using a smartphones, laptops or tab. The complaint would be converted into a FIR if it is a cognisable offence i.e. a serious offence, like theft or murder, where a police officer can initiate an investigation and make an arrest without the permission of a court.
The initiative would save the citizens from visiting the police stations for lodging a complaint which otherwise is not a pleasant experience in most of the cases. The ability to check the status of complaint and give a feedback is likely to lead to a more transparent policing.
“Har Samay’’ would help police by connecting all the police stations thus providing a huge database that would aid in solving crime and also reframe policing policies. Further, the online portal permits filing of RTI applications too. The first online complaint in Gurgaon was lodged against drinking in public place ans was received by the Sushant lok police station.
