No information to be provided under RTI without payment of further fee

Background

The appellant sought information about the transfer orders issued in respect of officers of certain rank from one Circle to another on personal request, without involving Government expenditure and those issued involving Government expenditure. The PIO asked the appellant to deposit a fee of Rs. 32/- so that requisite information could be supplied to him. The appellant filed an appeal before the Commission.

View of the CIC

The respondent informed the Central Information Commission that the appellant has not deposited the requisite fee due to which information could not be supplied him. The Commission dismissed the appeal.
