Nearly Rs. one crore spent for procuring sweets for NDMC staff on the eve of Holi
27 May, 2014Reply to an application filed by Delhi-based RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agarwal under the Right to Information (RTI) Act to the health department of NDMC has revealed the cost incurred each year in purchasing sweets for the employees on the eve of Holi.
· In 2010, sweets costing Rs 5, 52,860 were procured for distribution to the sanitation staff of health department on the eve of Diwali from M/s Karachi Halwa House.
· In 2011, sweets costing Rs 6, 70,163 were procured for distribution to the sanitation staff of health department on the eve of the Diwali from Ms Kaleva.
· In 2012, sweets costing Rs 6, 70,163 were procured for distribution to the sanitation staff of health department on the occasion of Diwali M/s Kaleva.
· In 2013, sweets costing Rs 30, 20,242 were procured for distribution to the sanitation staff of health department and all group D employees of NDMC including contractual one on the eve of the Diwali from M/s Nathu Sweets worth.
· In March 2014, sweets costing Rs 91,95,0701 were procured for distribution to all NDMC employees on the eve of Holi from M/s Nathu Sweets.
The figures shows a rapid rise in the amount spend on procuring sweets for the staff of the NDMC. NDMC is the civic agency responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of Delhi.
