Mere getting of information may not serve any public or social interest in its entirety

Comment: The RTI Act purpose of enabling citizen to get information is to empower him with information to expose the inefficiency and corruption in administration. Mere getting of information may not serve any public or social interest in its entirety without a relief to the affected citizen unless the competent authority takes action for suitable remedy or relief based on such information to which such information is forwarded for action by CIC/SIC in the interest of justice and good governance. The CIC/SIC should take the responsibility of seeing that due compensation is awarded to the complainant for the loss or detriment suffered not only for want of information but also for not following the constitution/constitutional principles as may be inferred from the information/ replies from the public information officer or public authority.
