Information about action taken by police into complaint of FDR withdrawal

The appellant alleged that his brother, nephew and one more person withdrew an FDR amounting to Rs. 2,50,000/- which was received as compensation after the death of his father. He sought information regarding a complaint filed by him before the DCP. The Public Information Officer (PIO) provided a copy of the action taken/ enquiry report into his complaint, as received from the respective police station. On appeal, the First Appellate Authority (FAA) remitted the matter back to PIO, with the direction to hear the appellant and to look into his grievances.

The respondent submitted that the complaint of the petitioner was enquired into, which revealed that the FDR of Rs. 2,50,000/- was withdrawn at village Dattod, Rohtak (Haryana) where his mother was residing at that time. A civil suit is pending in this regard and the allegations of the appellant could not be proved during the enquiry. The Commission observed that requisite information has been provided to the appellant by the respondent and rejected the appeal.
