How should a PIO deal with applications seeking voluminous information? In such cases the PIO may consider: 1) Inviting the applicant to clarify if a broad application was submitted just because the applicant was not sure what was available. Such interaction can lead to narrowing down of requirements and avoid unnecessarily burden on the PIO. 2) If the information sought is huge or is available at different locations making it unviable to make copies of every piece of paper contained in the relevant files, the CPIO may advise the applicant to inspect the files and identify the documents that are needed by him. 3) Use of advanced technology like the digital photography for scanning of documents may be of use. |
