Clearance for improvement in general hospital pending with state
10 Aug, 2012Reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that a list of works amounting to Rs 8.26 crore proposed by Sassoon General Hospital is pending with the state government. The hospital needs many improvements like fitting a central oxygen system in the proposed trauma care centre, getting a mechanised laundry, renovation of the Ear Nose Throat (ENT), setting up an ophthalmology department, building a compound wall and fitting commodes in toilet blocks which require an expenditure of Rs 8.26 crore.
It reply to the RTI application was also revealed a shortage of man-power; 245 posts out of 838 administrative posts are lying vacant and 48 posts out of 216 technical posts are lying vacant. Further, the reply shows that even though the Sassoon Hospital requires space, but the National Institute of Virology (NIV) has occupied nearly 8311.27 sq mts. of land belonging to Sassoon Hospital.
