CIC order to disclose details of UPSC interview board members stayed
23 Mar, 2014Vide order dated September 3, 2012, the Central Information Commission had directed the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to disclose the highest post, educational qualifications as well as experience of the members of the interview board. The UPSC challenged the order of the CIC in the High Court.
The counsel for UPSC argued that if the order of CIC was implemented, the identity of the membes of the interview board would be evealed and they would stand identified. It was argued that the same was exempt under Section 8(1) (j) of the Right to Information Act, 2005. Hearing the petition, Justice Manmohan of the Delhi High Court has stayed the order of the CIC while issuing a notice to the RTI activist Babul Roy who had approached the CIC for disclosure of the information.
