Certified copy of the seized documents sought under RTI
28 Feb, 2012Background
The appellant sought certified copies of his original documents seized during enquiry by the Police and a copy of the seizure memo. The appellant also wanted to know when the enquiry into the matter would be completed. The Public Information Officer (PIO) provided point-wise reply to the RTI application. On appeal, the First Appellate Authority (FAA) informed that the matter was still under examination while directing the PIO to provide a copy of the seizure memo to the appellant.
View of CIC
The Commission noted that while a certified copy of the seizure memo has been provided to the appellant, there is nothing on record to show that certified copies of the seized documents have been provided to him. The Commission directed the PIO to provide certified copies of the seized documents to the appellant, free of cost, within two weeks of receipt of this order.
