Bangalore’s master plan to be GIS-based and RTI-compliant
16 Aug, 2012Bangalore is all set to revise the city master plan by incorporating the Geographic Information System (GIS) and providing space for Right to Information (RTI). It has inbuilt mechanism to ensure that once the Revised Master Plan (RMP) 2035 is prepared, the citizens will have access to it who can visualize the changes in the city planning.
To prepare RMP 2035, the GIS platform would be provided to nine consultants who have submitted Expression of Interest. A Coordination Committee has been proposed by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) which would bring all key stakeholders on the same platform so as to make the city economically and environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive.
India is witnessing explosive urban growth and there is need to develop an innovative, economically robust and environmentally sustainable model for the cities involving all key stakeholders.
