The applications submitted by other candidates were sought under RTI
24 Aug, 2012Background
The appellant had submitted that he had applied for the post of Sr. Scientist in response to advertisement and he was not called for interview. In this context he had sought to know the reason for him not being called for the interview and also requested for a copy of the card sheet and some other ancillary information.
Proceedings
The Public Information Officer (PIO) submitted before the Central Information Commission (CIC) that a copy of the card sheet and the copies of the applications submitted by other candidates have already been supplied to the appellant. Regarding the question of the appellant not being called for interview, the PIO informed that the benchmark was 45% marks and as the appellant did not come up to the benchmark, he was not called for the interview. It was further clarified that the reason for not calling the appellant for interview is reflected in the score card itself.
View of CIC
The Central Information Commission (CIC) noted that the score card has already been provided to the appellant which contains the entire information. Besides, copies of the applications submitted by other candidates have also been supplied to the appellant so the appeal was dismissed.
