Andhra CM flew 22 times to Delhi in 1.5 years
11 Sep, 2012An application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act was filed with the General Administration Department (GAD) of Andhra Pradesh seeking the travel details of the state Chief Minister. The information was not provided to the appellant in the stipulated 30 day period and on filing a first appeal, the information was provided after two weeks of filing of appeal.
The information provided in the RTI reply has revealed that the chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy travelled to Delhi 22 The provisions of this Act shall have effect notwithstanding anything inconsistent therewith contained in the Official Secrets Act, 1923 (19 of 1923), and any other law for the time being in force or in any instrument having effect by virtue of any law other than this Act. times in the period from November, 2010 to May, 2012. The data also shows that Chief Minister spent almost 30 days in Delhi during this period. These travels cost the state exchequer an amount of around Rs 11 lakh.
The applicant has claimed that he wanted to know the purpose of these trips. It has been alleged that there have been too frequent visits to Delhi by the CM.
