Use of orderlies by retired police officers revealed under RTI
In a reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the Police Department of Chennai has stated that the system of orderlies had been abolished vide GO dated September 9, 1979 by the Tamil Nadu government. But, the department has further attached a file in the reply which shows that many retired police officers are still utilizing the services of orderlies for their household works.
The list depicts that at least 55 senior retired cops use orderlies apart from many more in the service.
