Three member committee notified to select information commissioners in Goa
1 Jul, 2013
For the smooth implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the state government of Goa has notified a three member pre-selection committee to recommend names for appointment to the post of chief information commissioner (CIC) and the state information commissioner (SIC).
The move follows a dharna staged by the citizens and RTI activists regarding the vacant positions of CIC and SIC in the state.
The chief secretary to the state government will chair the pre selection committee while the principal secretary (PWD) and secretary (Information & Publicity) will be its other members. The mandate of the committee will be to go through the applications received for the two posts, shortlist the names and to present its report to the government within two weeks of its constitution. The names recommended by the pre-selection committee would then be forwarded to the selection committee, headed by the chief minister, which will decide the appointees.
