Student declared ‘fail’ without evaluation of his answer sheet
24 Apr, 2013Tariq Ahmad Lone is a student pursuing Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) through Directorate of Distance Education from the University of Kashmir. His examinations were held in Sep-Oct 2012 and when the results of the examination were announced on March 28, 2013, he was declared failed.
As the student was also not allowed to apply for the re-evaluation of his answer sheet, he filed an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to get a copy of his answer sheet. The copy of answer sheet provided to him in the reply showed that his answer sheet was not even checked.
The student approached the examination block to get his complaint registered but the department didn’t respond to his appeal. The student, whose future is at stake, has appealed to the authorities to take appropriate action in this regard.
The registrar of the university has stated that the matter will be looked into and the re-evaluation issue would be resolved.
