SIC directs MPSC to upload details of job applicants in the waiting list
20 Mar, 2013An application was filed with the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) under the Right to Information seeking to know the result of the MPSC exams for the post of assistant municipal commissioner held in May, 2012. The applicant also wanted to know the status of final result that is signed by all the committee members and the interview panel.
As the information was denied to the applicant stating that the desired information doesn’t fall under the purview of the RTI Act, the matter was brought before the Maharashtra state information commission (SIC).
The SIC, after hearing the case, has directed the MPSC to upload on its website the list of all the candidates in the waiting list along with their marks. It has also asked the public service commission to upload decisions related to exams and the parameters based on which such issues are decided. The SIC also issued a show cause notice to the PIO asking whether why penalty should not be imposed on him for denying the information.
