Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road still waiting for railway’s approval –RTI reply
6 Mar, 2013An application was filed under the Right to information (RTI) Act seeking to know the status of Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) the work orders for which were issued in 2003.
The reply provided by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the nodal agency for the project, stated that there is delay to carry out works on the railway land and permissions to launch girders over railway tracks have not come in from concerned authorities. The permission is to be granted by the commissioner of railway safety (CRS) and the Central railways (CR).
Already around 80 per cent works have been completed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) which is the implementing agency for the project and the MMRDA authorities have set a deadline of October 31, 2013 for the completion of the project.
However, divisional regional manager of central railways said that launching of girders has to be done over railway lines without affecting daily services for whcih the MMRDA is yet to devise a scheme, thus causing the delay.
