RTI unravels undue delay in file proceedings by revenue department
11 Nov, 2012An application under the Right to information (RTI) Act has revealed that more than 200 cases are pending with the revenue department in Vapi in the Valsad district of Gujarat.
The pending files include cases regarding conversion of land from agricultural to non agricultural, sale permissions and change of tenure and allegedly they are stuck up due to unauthorized procedures adopted by the district Panchayat.
These irregularities were put forward by the RTI activist Manish Desai before the Revenue Inspection Commissioner (RIC) Arun Sutaria during his visit to district Panchayat. The District Development Officer (DDO) of Valsad has accepted the irregularities in the revenue procedures.
RIC has then issued directions to all concerned authorities to curb red tapism and follow only latest government resolutions and notifications.
