RTI section of NU website has not been updated since January 2010
7 Sep, 2013
An application was filed with the Nagpur University under the Right to Information seeking to get some information but the application was turned down by the university stating that the name of the official mentioned in the application was wrong. However, it turned out that the applicant had mentioned the name as per the website of the university.
The RTI activists have alleged that the Nagpur University has not been updating its website thus misleading the activists. They said that it’s been three and a half years since the RTI section of the website was last updated.
The registrar and the PRO said that they had asked the department to update the section which shows SN Pathan as the vice-chancellor of the university, even when the current VC Vilas Sapkal took charge in December 2010. The website also mentions in its officials’ list the names of those persons who have been either transferred or left the university. The list of information officers, mandated to be disclosed under Section 4 of the RTI Act, is the one that was prepared way back in 2010 and since then has not been updated despite transfers and attritions.
