RTI reveals massive losses suffered by the CIL due to illegal occupation
8 Oct, 2012In response to a Right to Information (RTI) application, the Coal India limited (CIL) has informed that because of illegal occupation, the company is suffering losses to the tune of about Rs. 6,800 crore every year.
Taking notice of the failure of the West Bengal police and Coal India limited (CIL) to evict thousands of illegal occupants who illegally occupying CIL land and coal mines in Asansol, the bench of acting chief justice KJ Sengupta and justice AK Mondal of the Calcutta High Court has ordered eviction within two weeks. The high court also ordered the disconnection of power lines and water supply of the illegal occupants.
The Court further directed to register a FIR if any person attempts to prevent compliance with the court's order Court and also directed to realise the cost of eviction from the illegal occupants.
